Several year's ago I was painting at Python Pool in the Pilbara region on NW Australia. It was dusk and when I arrived at the pool there was a couple swimming in the water. As I worked they seemed to stay in for a long time and it was only when the man ran naked from the water that I realised that they were "skinny dipping" a pastime that many people indulge in when swimming in the magic pools of the outback. He picked up a towel and used it to shield his girlfriend from my view as she too came out of the water. As a gentleman I averted my eyes of course. I included the couple in the painting and it sold quickly. This painting revisits the subject matter and is influenced by the mystery and presence of an ancient Aboriginal site combined with the brilliance of the reds, oranges and violets of the this rugged landscape.
